Talking Across Difference Fellows
The Rutgers Democracy Lab is recruiting a team of paid student fellows to support the Talking Across Difference initiative’s in-person and virtual programming across Rutgers University – New Brunswick campus. Talking Across Difference is a university-wide initiative meant to equip educators, staff, and students to have productive conversations about difficult and sometimes divisive issues. Talking Across Difference Fellows have the opportunity to play a leading role by organizing and leading programming to foster respectful dialogue across campus.
This paid opportunity begins August 2026 and will run until May 2027. Students are expected to commit to for the full academic year with limited approved exceptions. Fellows will receive a stipend of $3,000.00 and 3 academic credits per semester for their participation.

- Join a cohort of student leaders advancing dialogue across difference
Eligibility

- Current Rutgers – New Brunswick undergraduate student (incoming first-years not eligible)
- Available for in‑person programming on campus and occasional off‑campus events
- Willing to facilitate small‑group discussions after training, with supervision
- Available for in‑person training, August 25–28, 2026
- Able to attend weekly meetings:

- In person: Tuesdays, 2:00–3:00 p.m. (Alexander Library – The Hatchery)
- Zoom: Fridays, 2:00–3:00 p.m.

- Experience with Canva, social media, and GetInvolved is a plus
